How we're helping you stay safe We are opening on Saturday 4th July! We have missed everyone and can't wait to open our doors and welcome you again. The current Covid-19 pandemic is one of the hardest things our industry has ever had to face. We have everything in hand to make your experience just the way you remember it, with a few changes to make everyone safe. The below details are not exhaustive or fully inclusive but to give guidance and set expectations for our guests prior to visiting The Old Smithy.
RESERVATIONS • All new reservations confirmed will be monitored in relation to the on-going situation. • Please follow government guidelines on who can dine together. • We ask you kindly to arrive promptly due to staggered bookings to comply with social distancing.
NHS TRACE & TRACK In line with Government guidelines we will be asking for your to complete our in house form. It will require the date of visit, your full name, Address & telephone number. This will be stored securely and destroyed following data protection guidelines.
GIFT VOUCHERS Any existing gift vouchers for 2020 will be extended for 6 months from 4TH July 2020 if purchased in 2020
SOCIAL DISTANCING All seating arrangements have been placed to meet the 1-metre government advice for social distancing. Most of our tables are where possible 2 meters. To help us maintain social distancing for our staff, reservation times will be strictly observed to ensure social distancing can be up-held. Please therefore respect your reservation time. We are unable to guarantee tables, should guests arrive late for reserved time. Should you arrive early for your table, you may be asked to wait outside until your allotted time only where absolutely necessary. Certain elements of our service will be amended, for those guests returning these will be minor changes until further restrictions can be relaxed. These minor changes have been considered to reduce contact points between staff and guests.
OUR TEAM All team members will be screened via our in-house health questionnaire before each shift - this will include their temperature check. None of our team will be using public transport to get to work.
ON ARRIVAL Our front of house staff will explain the one-way system and how to use the access toilet facilities. We will be unable to take your coats, please use the back of your chair.
HYGIENE STATEMENT For the safety and security of both our guests and staff we have put in place additional health and safety procedures. These extend to personal hygiene of our staff, cleaning procedures within the restaurant, PPE, social distancing and the amendment of services to meet social distancing guidelines whilst protecting other safety and security measures. There will be a sanitising station's on entry & around the restaurant. Please ensure these are used on entering the building. Single use menus will be in use printed on recyclable paper. Where possible please share 1 between 2. No tables will be laid, cutlery and condiments will be brought to your table with food. Our salt and pepper shakers will be sanitised after use. We have a nominated member of staff our "hygiene Champion's" to maintain cleanliness. Touch points, toilets will be cleaned every hour.
THE MENU Our menu's features some of our old favorites with some new exciting dishes on our evening menu. During these uncertain times our menu will be under review regularly as we continue to work our local suppliers as they too get back to business. The menu will be slightly reduced during our first weeks of opening.
OUTSIDE DRINKING AREA We have a temporary outside drinking area which is sheltered for bad weather. We have placed our tables and chairs in line with social distance regulations. Please do not move them. To order drinks - use the front door and order & pay at the bar which is protected by full screens. You will then be asked to use the exit door towards the car park. You will collect your drink from the collection table in front of patio doors. Our signage will help you understand the system. Please note - access is required to a car park beyond the area so be aware of slow moving vehicles.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT • All Staff members will be adhering to strict uniform and personal hygiene requirements when on the premises. • Hand-washing must be carried out for a minimum 20 seconds with soap and water immediately after coughing or sneezing. • Hand-washing must take place every 30 minutes and in between where necessary. • Protective gloves and masks will be provided for staff who wish to wear them.
PAYMENT We encourage contactless or card payments but will accept cash.
